As part of my journey through the WP Credits program, one of the first steps was creating this personal website and it turned out to be a great introduction to how WordPress actually works from the inside.
I decided to use WordPress.com for this project, since it’s directly connected to the WordPress ecosystem I’m learning to contribute to. Setting up the site was fairly straightforward: I picked a theme, wrote a short bio for the homepage, and added the basic pages I’ll need going forward (About, Blog, Contact). The part that took the most thought was figuring out how to present myself I wanted the site to feel simple and clear, without unnecessary clutter.
One thing I learned along the way is how much structure WordPress gives you out of the box templates, blocks, and site editing tools that make it easy to go from a blank page to something usable fairly quickly, even without writing any code.
This site will keep evolving as I move further into the WP Credits program. For now, it’s a starting point: a space to document my progress, reflect on what I’m learning about open source collaboration, and eventually share the contributions I make to the WordPress project itself.
